Introduction
Sitapur is a land of seers and sufis. This is the place where Rishi Ved Vyas wrote Purans. The city is situated on the banks of river “Sarayun”. For the same reason, it is considered that “'Panch Dham Yatra” journey of five main religious Hindu places will not be completed without visiting the Neemsar or Naimisharanya in Sitapur, According to Hindu mythology. This district has been a home to many famous personalities like Raja Todar Mal, who was one of the Nav-Ratna and Revenue Minister of Mughal Emperor Akbar was born at Laharpur town of district Sitapur. Agriculture is the main & important occupation of the district.Wheat, Rice & Urd are the main crops & Sugarcane, mustard & Groundnuts are the cash crops.
Sitapur is surrounded by Lakhimpur district in the north, Barabanki & Lucknow district in the south, Baharaich district in the east, and Hardoi district in the west.

Health Facilities in District
The rural health care system is a three tier structure. It has “Sub-center” at the most peripheral level, “Primary Health Centre” at the intermediate level and “Community Health Centre” at the secondary level. The population covered by a “Sub Centre”, “Primary Health Centre” and “Community Health Centre” are “3,000-5,000”, “20,000-30,000” and “100,000”, respectively. In addition, there are "Private Voluntary Health Facilities", also. As per UP government organizational set up, the district is headed by a District Magistrate, who is also the chairperson of the Integrated District Health Society of Sitapur district. The district health set up of UP government is headed by the Chief Medical Officer followed by an Additional CDMO as second-in-command. Chief Medical Superintendent looks after the UP government hospitals in the district.

Epidemiological picture of the District ...top ...
Prevalence rate and ANCDR have shown steady decline since 2004-05 and the district is yet to achieve the leprosy elimination status. However, there has been no remarkable change in the proportion of “MB cases”, “Female Cases” and “Child cases” amongst new cases over these past 5 years. However, the proportion of “Grade II cases” has shown very small by steady increase since 2004-05.
