Visit of Mr. Jan Van Berkel, Director NLR, Amsterdam, The Netherlands Our new Director, Mr. Jan van Berkel paid a visit to India along with Mr. Daan Ponsteen, NLR Project Coordinator for India and Mr. Jo Swachten, Treasurer of the NLR Board. Are ASHAs helpful in early case detection
Under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) of Govt. of India, village level volunteers, known as Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA), have been identified to act as a link between 1000 population and the health system. As a pilot project in the State of Uttar Pradesh, NLR has identified 5 block PHCs, where ASHAs will be sensitized to suspect and refer new case of Leprosy at nearest health care facility. More.....
